Try These Online Eye Exercises

December 24th, 2011

palming eye exercises There are many instances in our lives where we’ll focus our eyes too hard on something like our computers or television screens. When this happens, doing online eye exercises can relieve the strain that this type of focusing brings. There are a number of different eye exercises that you can do to improve the health of your eyes such as Palming. If you’re a stay at home mom who spends hours working from the computer, you certainly are aware of the strain on your eyes that follows.

This is where palming can be very beneficial. How this works is that for about 20-30 seconds you’d rub your hands together, creating heat in between them. Afterwards, place the palm of your hands over each eye. Make sure that your eyes are closed and that your palms don’t touch your eyelids. If possible, do this at a table so that you can rest your elbows on the table. The exercise is more effective when you are completely relaxed. After sitting this way for a few minutes, your eyes should feel much better.

Another effective exercise that is called “near-far-focus” is perfect for giving your eyes range and flexibility. It’s also very simple to do. All you have to do is hold up your thumb in front of your face, but at least 6 inches away. Take a nice deep breath; focus on your thumb and then exhale. You should continue to do this at least 20 times before subsiding. This works almost immediately and if you’re tired, it’ll give you a boost in staying alert. This is also very helpful for individuals who work long periods of time from their computers.

You could also try what I like to call “scanning.” This basically gives your eyes more flexibility. In whatever room that you’re in, look for particular items and scan the edges of them. This can include the edge of a chair, table, computer, door and more. This helps your eyes to feel more relaxed and move more naturally. You should do this at least 2-5 minutes. You will also notice that after doing it that you can focus a little better than before you did the exercise. These are just a few tricks that you can try to get your eyes back focused again.

Not only do these exercises help you focus better, but they work perfectly for relaxing tired eyes. You may choose to try one or you may try all of them in one day. As long as you try them, you’ll begin to see results immediately.
