Improving Your Eyes without Prescriptions or Surgery

January 15th, 2012

eye strainAs we age, our eye muscles weaken and as a result we’ll have blurred vision and increased chances of blindness. Genetics is also a factor in whether we’re at risk for poor vision or not because if many of our relatives suffered from eye disorders, there’s a chance we’ll struggle with the same thing.  One thing you should do is visit your ophthalmologist every few months to detect any possible eye problems which may cause blindness or poor vision. The ophthalmologist will examine your eyes for signs of glaucoma and he’ll suggest practical ways you can care for your eyes. But in between your visits, there are ways you can reduce bad eyesight with natural methods that don’t involve eye drops or surgery.

You want avoid long hours in front of the computer and television because this causes eyestrain and could lead to eye disorders such as macular degeneration and glaucoma as you get older. If you do a lot of work from your computer, take a break for a few hours and do other things or look around the room for a few minutes if you can’t take a break.  When you’re out in the sun wear sunglasses and choose sunglasses that have UV protection from the sun and that are tinted. Also try not to face the sun directly when you look up while outside.

Restoring Eyesight

Eyesight is one of the most important things you possess. Without it you literally cannot function as a normal human being. If your eyesight is failing, or has failed, there are many ways to improve it. Other, more expensive methods may actually allow you to completely fix your vision. Most methods that can do this are experimental and sometimes dangerous.

The easiest and most widely used method of vision repair is to wear glasses. Glasses are a simple invention of two circular cut pieces of glasses within frames that fit on your face. The pieces of glass have varying thickness to accommodate one eye being weaker or stronger than the other. The frames are usually made of plastic or thin metal rods. The frames can also be styled or colored, depending on the brand and size. Glasses are simple to use and can be removed when not needed. The downsides to glasses are that they can be very fragile and sometimes expensive, as well as the frames that fit you may not be as attractive as others.  There are two types of contact lenses, soft and hard. Soft lenses deteriorate quickly and must be changed more often than hard lenses. Hard lenses are more durable as long as you take proper care of them.

December 23rd, 2011

Are you tired of repairing and purchasing eyeglasses every few months? Are you tired of wearing contacts or making repetitive trips to the eye doctor to restore your eyesight? You should consider LASIK eye surgery because most of the patients who received this procedure have improved vision and they restore eyesight. This surgery is also painless and the recovery time is usually within weeks or months. Before the LASIK surgery you’ll have a consultation with the eye doctor and he’ll tell you what to expect during the procedure. He’ll also test your eyes to determine if you’re a good candidate for the procedure. Texas A&M University says that you may not be able to get this surgery if you have very dry eyes, are over age 55, are pregnant, under age 18, if you have glaucoma or cataracts and if you’re diabetic. They also say you should have realistic expectations about the LASIK surgery before you meet with the eye doctor. For example, some patients actually lose their eyesight due to complications of the procedure while others may still need corrective eyewear after the surgery.

Eye Correction Surgery – Advance Technology to Correct Vision Problems

November 9th, 2011

Eye Correction for eye problems has advanced astoundingly over the past decades. One of the first methods created to have eye correction surgery is to create an incision to alter the shape of the cornea for certain corrective purpose, this was called RK or Radial Keratotomy. This concept originated from Sato of the Juntendo University located in Japan. It originally involved posterior internal incisions. Although it was not proven effective for all types of patients, a lot suffered bulluous keratopathy a few years after the operation.

The modification of the RK was needed to avoid damaging corneal tissues, this later on became the first refractive eye correction surgery. This eye correction surgery was perfected by Fyodorov, a Russian Ophthalmologist. It was introduced during the 1970s and was used in the US in 1978.

A lot has changed since then, a variety of eye correction surgeries are now available both for cosmetic and elective purposes.

eye correction surgeryA variety of eye correction is readily available in today’s time. Aside from the usual eyeglasses and contact lenses that are usually prescribed by your eye doctor, there are several other procedures that one can choose from.

As technology and time advances, a lot of eye correction procedures are now available today. The only problem is which one will fit the eye problem that you may have.

This is how vision inside your eyes work, visualizations starts when light enters the eye by passing through the cornea, the iris then controls and regulates the amount of light that passes through. After that, a light ray pass through the eye’s lenses which then bend and focuses to the retina. The retina works by converting the light into electrical impulses which is then sent to the brain via the optic nerve. The brain then produces the images.
